For Aspire Home Loans, I photographed their team in Hamilton to create a new collection of professional imagery for their website.

Rather than creating one headshot of each person and calling it done, we photographed a mixture of individual portraits, team photographs and more relaxed environmental imagery.

The result was a varied gallery that still felt cohesive across the whole team.

Professional headshots with variety

For the individual photographs, I created several different looks for each team member.

We photographed clean studio portraits alongside environmental headshots using different areas around the location. This gave us everything from simple, direct-to-camera photographs through to more relaxed seated and standing portraits.

The surroundings also gave us plenty to work with, including darker timber, concrete, greenery and more contemporary interior spaces.

Although the backgrounds and compositions changed, the photographs still needed to feel like they belonged together.

Photographing the team together

Alongside the individual headshots, I photographed the Aspire Home Loans team in several different combinations and locations.

Some were more traditional team photographs, while others were deliberately relaxed. We used meeting spaces, hallways and communal areas to create images that showed the team together without every photograph feeling like a formal group portrait.

Having both gives a business far more flexibility than relying on a single team photograph.

Studio and environmental headshots in one shoot

One of the things I really like about combining studio and environmental portraits is how different the results can feel while still being photographed within the same session.

A clean backdrop gives you a simple professional headshot that can be used almost anywhere. Environmental portraits provide more context and give us room to create something with a little more personality.

For Aspire Home Loans, we created both, along with seated portraits, wider photographs and different crops for each team member.

Creating a cohesive business image library

When several people need to be photographed, consistency becomes particularly important.

That doesn’t mean every person needs exactly the same photograph. Instead, I want the lighting, colour and overall finish to feel cohesive while still creating enough variation throughout the gallery.

For Aspire Home Loans, the final collection included individual headshots, environmental portraits and team photography, giving them a broad selection of professional images rather than one photograph per person.
