Some wedding days just have a magic about them, and Estelle & Marinus’s day at The Red Barn was one of those. From their emotional first look, to sunset portraits among the cows, to their unforgettable outdoor first dance, it was a day filled with love, laughter, and family.
Estelle and Marinus chose to see each other privately in a first look among the trees. Not only did it calm the nerves, but it gave them space to exchange something truly special, a letter from Estelle, written in Afrikaans to honour Marinus’s heritage. It was such a moving, personal touch that set the tone for the rest of the day (as well as super funny because neither of them was very good at the pronunciation).
Their ceremony took place outdoors, under the iconic oak tree at The Red Barn, with Marion Peck officiating. The views of rolling farmland and the golden Waikato hills made the perfect backdrop as their closest friends and family watched them say “I do.”
Estelle and Marinus were intentional with their timeline, doing their family and wedding party photos before the ceremony. This meant that once the vows were exchanged, they could fully immerse themselves in cocktail hour with their guests, enjoying drinks, canapés, and laughter without worrying about rushing off for photos.
Of course, we still snuck away for a few moments at golden hour, chasing the epic sunset that always covers the Red Barn’s fields. A few cheeky cows even joined in on the fun, giving the newlyweds a story to laugh about too!
The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, a gorgeous cake from Sweet Avenue Cakes, and the warm glow of festoon lights. Algorithm brought the vibes with live music, and Estelle and Marinus had the most gorgeous outdoor first dance under the stars, the perfect way to open their dance floor surrounded by family and friends.
