Tyla and Scott got married at Rosebrooke Hall & Gardens on a very sunny late-November day in the Waikato, and these two were SO much fun to photograph.
Their whole wedding felt really relaxed. They had their favourite people around them, a great wedding party, classic cars, a confetti exit, a beautiful outdoor ceremony and, later in the day, some very good evening light to play with.
Basically, plenty for me to photograph.
The guys got ready in the newly finished man cave at the couples home, which Scott had apparently been working fairly hard to get polished up in time for the wedding. Priorities 😂
Add the suits, the boys, drinks, darts and a classic car and there was certainly no shortage of things happening before the ceremony.
The girls got ready nearby too but at Tyla’s parents, with another classic car arriving mid prep and a super heartfelt first look with dad, mum and the girls.
Tyla and Scott held their ceremony outside at Rosebrooke, with the Bell Tower chapel and its gorgeous arched window behind them.
It’s a really distinctive little ceremony spot, sitting underneath the huge old oak tree and surrounded by the gardens.
After the ceremony and a VERY enthusiastic confetti exit (you’ll see), we could stay on the property for family photos, wedding party photographs and portraits rather than disappearing somewhere else.
Rosebrooke has quite a lot packed into one property. There are established gardens, open grassy areas, vintage buildings, the courtyard and plenty of little corners we can use depending on the light and what the weather is doing.
Later in the day, we took Tyla and Scott back outside for another quick round of portraits as the light changed.
I will forever be a fan of the sunset evening photo mission.
You don’t need to disappear from your reception for another enormous photoshoot. If the light is doing something particularly good, we’ll sneak outside, make the most of it and get you straight back to your people.
The reception was held inside the vintage hall, with Alice and the Rosebrooke team looking after everyone, The Old Forge handling the food and Matt Hicks returning to DJ after marrying Tyla and Scott earlier in the day.
Then it was speeches, cake, first dance and eventually the point in the evening where everyone stops caring quite so much that there’s a photographer nearby.
Which, conveniently, is when the dance-floor photos start getting particularly good. And handy that this is outside with plenty of bar leaners so that everyone still feels connnected, even those that aren’t dancing.
A very fun day, two ridiculously happy people and a pretty excellent way to spend a November Saturday in the Waikato.
