For this commercial clothing shoot with Resurgence Gear New Zealand, I photographed four models across the brand’s men’s and women’s motorcycle apparel ranges.

The shoot included jeans, jackets and T-shirts, photographed on a clean white background to create consistent on-model product imagery for the Resurgence Gear website and online store.

Showing the clothing on-model

Photographing clothing on a person gives customers much more information than a product photograph alone.

Throughout the shoot we created full-length photographs, closer portraits and detail crops, showing how the different pieces fit, where they sit on the body and some of the smaller features of each garment.

With four models and a large number of products to work through, we could also show the range across different people while maintaining the same overall look.

Consistency across the range

For this type of commercial shoot, consistency is a big part of the job.

The white background and controlled studio lighting remained consistent as we moved between models, outfits and individual products. Posing and crops could then change depending on what needed to be shown without the overall collection becoming visually disconnected.

This is particularly important when the photographs are going to sit alongside one another throughout an online store.

Photographing the details

Alongside the wider photographs, we created tighter crops of individual garments and their details.

For motorcycle clothing, those closer images help show features that can easily disappear in a full-length photograph, while also giving the brand additional imagery to use throughout product pages and marketing.

The finished collection was created as part of a wider website revamp for Resurgence Gear, providing a large library of consistent imagery across the men’s and women’s ranges.

Rather than every product being photographed in exactly the same pose and crop, we created enough variation to show the garments properly while still keeping the overall collection cohesive.
