Photographing headshots for a team of more than 20 people is a little different from photographing one person.
For Waikato Real Estate, the goal was to create clean, polished and consistent team photography that could be used across their website, email signatures, print marketing and everyday business communications.
I photographed the team in my Hamilton studio, creating updated individual headshots alongside a selection of team photographs and smaller group combinations.
When headshots are going to sit alongside each other, consistency matters.
The individual portraits were photographed using the same professional studio lighting, positioning and overall finish so that each person still looks like themselves, while the full collection works together as one cohesive team.
The finished images are polished but realistic, with clean, natural colour and a consistent look across the wider team.
For some of the final applications, imagery was also prepared with specific background colours and formatting requirements so it could slot neatly into Waikato Real Estate’s existing marketing.
Teams don’t stay exactly the same forever, particularly when you’re working with a business of this size.
One of the useful parts of creating a consistent setup is being able to photograph new team members as they join and keep the wider collection looking cohesive, rather than needing to start again every time the team changes.
I’ve continued photographing additional staff for Waikato Real Estate since the original shoot, with new imagery created to match the existing team photography.
Their larger team image has also been able to be updated as the business has changed, helping them keep an important marketing asset current without coordinating more than 20 people for a brand-new photograph every time someone joins.
Alongside the individual portraits, I created several team combinations to give Waikato Real Estate more flexibility in how their photography can be used.
That gives the business a library covering individual staff profiles, smaller teams and the wider group, while maintaining the same overall visual style throughout.
For a larger business, that’s really what I want a team headshot session to achieve: photography that looks consistent now, but is also practical to maintain as the team evolves.
