For Braden’s corporate headshots, we kept things simple and photographed the entire session in my Hamilton studio, creating a polished set of professional portraits that could be used across LinkedIn, business profiles and other professional platforms.
Wearing a suit from Dorset Suits, we created several different looks through small changes to lighting, expression, pose and composition rather than needing multiple outfits or locations.
A corporate headshot doesn’t have to mean taking one photograph against a plain background and calling it a day.
Throughout Braden’s session, we changed his positioning, expression and crop to create a selection of images that each feel slightly different while still belonging together.
Some are more formal and direct, while others are a little more relaxed.
One of the easiest ways to change the feel of a portrait is through lighting.
For Braden’s headshots, the combination of studio lighting, posing and expression allowed us to create stronger, more structured portraits alongside softer options without completely changing the setup.
It’s a small difference on set, but it can make a surprisingly big difference to the finished photograph.
Wardrobe is another part of creating a professional headshot that feels intentional.
Braden wore a tailored suit from Dorset Suits for his session, which worked perfectly for the more corporate style of portraits we were creating.
The aim isn’t for every professional to arrive at the studio in a suit, though. What you wear should make sense for your industry, your role and how you normally present yourself professionally.
You don’t necessarily need a full personal branding shoot when what you actually need is a strong collection of professional portraits.
A studio headshot session can be kept simple while still giving you variety through lighting, expressions, posing and different crops, resulting in images that can be used across LinkedIn, websites, speaking profiles and other professional applications.
