When Ellis & Jones Clinic opened their new space in Hamilton, I photographed Aly and Shea to create a library of imagery they could use across the new business.
This wasn’t just a headshot shoot. We wanted to photograph the people behind the clinic, but also show what they actually do, the space they work from and some of the smaller details that help tell the wider story of the business.
The result was a really varied gallery covering everything from portraits and team photographs through to treatments, products, details and plenty of supporting imagery for their marketing.
We created a mixture of photographs of Aly and Shea together as well as individual portraits throughout the clinic.
Some are more traditional professional portraits, while others are much more relaxed and environmental. We also used multiple outfits throughout the shoot, giving them different looks to pull from without needing completely separate sessions.
Having that variation is especially handy when you’re regularly creating content. You don’t necessarily want the same headshot appearing on your website, Instagram, an article and every other piece of marketing forever.
A big part of this shoot was photographing the actual work happening inside the clinic.
Rather than simply posing with equipment, we photographed treatments being performed, consultations and interactions between the team and clients.
That gives the gallery another layer. Someone looking through their website can actually get a feel for what visiting the clinic might look like, rather than only seeing photographs of the people who work there.
Alongside the people and treatments, I photographed products, equipment, hands at work and details throughout the clinic.
These smaller images are ridiculously useful for websites and social media.
Not every section of a website needs someone’s face staring back at you. Sometimes you need an image beside a paragraph, behind some text, in a banner or simply something relevant to break up a page.
So when I’m photographing a business, I’m always looking for those supporting images as well as the obvious hero shots.
By the end of the shoot, we’d created individual portraits, photographs of Aly and Shea together, treatment imagery, client interactions, product photographs and plenty of details from around the clinic.
That’s what I really like about a full business branding shoot. Instead of walking away with five versions of the same professional portrait, you have a much broader library showing the people, place and work behind the business.
For Ellis & Jones Clinic, that meant having a bank of professional imagery ready to use as they launched and grew their new Hamilton clinic.
