Commercial photography, drone imagery and video content created on location in the Waikato.
When Terravest was preparing to bring several agricultural brands into its wider business, updated marketing and websites were being developed for Terravest, Agora, Deosan and DTS.
Each brand needed its own bank of commercial imagery that could be used across its website and marketing, while still retaining a distinct identity. Although the businesses sit within the same wider group, their customer-facing brands needed to remain separate.
Working alongside the website designer and marketing team, we planned one full production day to create a broad library of imagery and video content that could be divided across the different brands and used throughout their new websites.
Rather than simply photographing products, the aim was to show them within the environments where they are actually used.
Starting at sunrise, we visited four different farms around Waikato while I photographed agricultural machinery, dairy cows and milking, tanker collection, product application, servicing and maintenance, electrical work and team headshots, along with wider farm and environmental imagery.
I also captured aerial drone photography and short video clips to give the web designer additional content for website banners, backgrounds and movement throughout the sites.
With four brands to photograph in one day, the shoot was carefully planned around the imagery each website required while making the most of the locations, people, machinery and activities available to us.
One of the biggest considerations for this project was making sure the final imagery didn’t feel like one enormous photoshoot simply divided between four websites.
Each business needed enough variety to build its own visual identity, while the photography still needed to feel professional and cohesive across the wider project.
That meant deliberately capturing a mixture of wide environmental photographs, people at work, machinery and equipment, close-up details, processes, product use and supporting stock imagery.
The result was a substantial library of purpose-shot agricultural content that could be used across the four websites and future marketing, without relying on generic stock photography that didn’t accurately represent the businesses, products or people behind them.
